Our council has started using electric garbage trucks for collecting waste from park bins, which I think is a great move. If I had one suggestion, it would be to add some artificial engine noise to these vehicles. Given their size, I think they’re just a little too quiet.
Leon Mika @mcg Yeah, it’s not like I’m a fan of engine noise. But these things are really quiet. When these trucks are driving around, you really only hear the subtle wine of the motor and the tyres on the road. I think, during this phase where people are still mainly driving petrol cars, there’s a bit of utility of engine noise just to make people aware that the truck is nearby. Maybe less so over time as EVs become more prevalent.
