I really like to support independent software developers, but $150.00 for a file diffing tool is a bit much. The tool does a lot, like diffing images, but I don’t need any of that. If they release a text-only diff/merge version for like $30-50, I’d buy it in a heartbeat.

Would BBEdit’s magnificent Find Differences fulfil what you need? I’ve used it many many times to spot differences between text files and merge updated bits. BBEdit might cost more than your quoted range but it’s so utterly utterly fabulous and useful for so many word-related things that it more than pays for itself for anyone who’s serious about text.

@Miraz Actually, that’s a good idea. I’ll give it a try.
EDIT - I’ve haven’t really warmed to BBEdit, mainly because they use a sidebar instead of tabs to show opened files, but I really should give it a decent shot as I know how powerful it actually is.

It’s one of my most-used apps. The sidebar doesn’t give me a millisecond’s pause and given how many documents I have open at any time, tabs would be darned annoying actually. (18 documents and 13 notes right now) I’d never find anything…
